INTERPRAEVENT 2024 (Vienna, 10-13/06/2024) - scadenza invio contributi: 01/11/2023

From June 10 to 13, 2024, the international conference INTERPRAEVENT will take place in the imperial setting of the Hofburg in Vienna. The conference is dedicated to the burning topic "Natural Hazards in a Changing Climate | How to Manage Risks Under Global Warming?” We are in the midst of the climate crisis; global heating is driving extreme weather events and devastating natural disasters are increasing. The topic of this INTERPRAEVENT conference was probably never as relevant as it is today.

INTERPRAEVENT 2024 connects science and practice and is an important platform for discussions. We expect up to 500 participants and are offering an attractive programme consisting of invited keynotes, 40 selected lectures in 6 thematic sessions, poster presentations, a panel discussion, trade exhibition of the business partners and around 12 field trips. Numerous network meetings and social events create a representative framework for this unique conference in the "most beautiful city in the world". All relevant information about the conference can be found on the website: https://interpraevent2024.at/

We would particularly like to draw your attention to the ongoing "Call for Contributions", which is open until November 1, 2023: https://interpraevent2024.at/submission/contributions We look forward to many submissions, concerning the natural hazards debris flow, floods (fluvial and pluvial), forest fire, landslides (including rockfall) and avalanches on the 6 topics of the conference:

1)      Climate Change: Drivers, Triggers and Consequences

2)      Risk Governance, Policies and Resilience

3)      From Observations and Experiments to Modelling and Simulations

4)      Hazard and Risk Assessment

5)      Structural and Non-Structural Mitigation Measures

6)      Emergency management and recovery

The submitted papers go through a scientific review process. The most relevant and qualitatively outstanding contributions will be invited as oral or poster presentations at the conference. All accepted contributions will be published in electronic form. Questions concerning the submission can be sent to the following address: submission@interpraevent2024.at

To support the young experts, the conference INTERPRAEVENT 2024 offers a special student programme, comprising the Student Award and the Science Day (follow-up workshop for students).

The Student Award is an established opportunity at the INTERPRAEVENT to encourage the next generation to submit papers with their thoughts and ideas. The 5 best contributions can be presented in a separate student session, they will receive financial grants for their travel expenses including accommodation and a full conference ticket. The winner, who will be determined through the fellow conference participants, can look forward to an attractive cash prize.

The “Science Day” takes place on the 13 June 2024 at the University of Vienna. There students will get the opportunity to analyse and evaluate the results of the INTERPRAEVENT 2024 conference together with leading experts. Furthermore, the interdisciplinary exchange and networking with experts and other students will be promoted. Details regarding the student programme are on the website: https://interpraevent2024.at/programme/students

We would kindly ask you to share the information within your networks and especially to make students aware of the submission for the Student Award as well as the programme.

Sincerely yours,

Helena Hieke
