We would kindly announce a call for papers for an article collection "Anthropisation of riverscapes" in INQUA journal Quaternary
Environments and Humans (QEH).
Floodplains represent global hotspots of sensitive socio-environmental changes. Their anthropogenic restructuring can be so significant that former floodplains are no longer recognisable as such. Human induced changes in floodplains and the formation of specific fluvially-adapted societies began long before the industrial period. The question therefore arises as to whether, or when, it is justified to understand floodplains as a Fluvial Anthroposphere and which socio-ecological processes have been involved in their development. The Article Collection in Quaternary Environments and Humans aims to provide new and original insights in anthropogenic floodplain transformation processes and fluvial societies since the beginning of historical time scales and even before. Manuscripts should ideally include interdisciplinary approaches across geoscience, archaeology, ecology and history. The Article Collection emphasizes innovative methodologies and conceptual concepts on the anthropisation of riverscapes.

The call for the article collection is open for the entire international community.
The advantage of an article collection is that individual articles are published as soon as their respective review processes are complete.
